In Beech class this half term we are basing all our English work on a short film called The Lighthouse.
The children will be writing diary entries and descriptive passages all based on this heartwarming tale.
We’re doing a lot of reading at the moment and will be bringing home texts to read to anyone who will listen at home – even the pets. Please help us by listening to us read our pieces. Mrs Wightman then gives us class dojos!
We're finishing our unit on telling time time and solving problems involving time this term and will be moving onto properties of shape. We already explored this last term and drew ourselves tracks with chalk to practise turning clockwise and anticlockwise and spotted right angles around the school.
With our new glockenspiels, we will be able to finish our unit on reggea music and compose our own tunes. We will also be using all our skills from the last year to create own own projects such as lighthouse prints and a history research project. We will be able to use our geographic mapping skills to draw maps while on our school trip to Cudmore Grove.
In Science, we will be looking at the different parts of plans, how reproduce and what they need to grow. This will be further reinforced by their work with Mrs Stewart in the garden. If anyone has any plants that they would like to donate to the school garden, Mrs Stewart always makes a point that each child gets to spend time planting and caring for their donated plant as well as the rest of the garden.
