Please let me know if you haven't received a copy of the new phonics scheme sounds and words to support your child at home.
In year 1 the children are encouraged to pick their own book to take home and share with you. Sometimes the children may find the book challenging, please continue to encourage using the phonics sounds and discuss the tricky words. Please use the spelling and read pack provided at the parent phonics session.
Thank you for your support.
In PSHE we are going to learn about friendship and emotions.
Please ensure your child has their full indoor and outdoor PE kit in school at all times. Currently PE is on Wednesday. Please ensure earrings are removed.
Homework Project – Our Library - to be handed in by Tuesday 1st November.
This term has begun with huge excitement in school as we have begun the renovation of our library. So far we have constructed an almost life size Cherry Tree in the atrium, added a raft of brand new books and rebanded all of the existing ones to allow the children more choice together with a faster progression through the levels of books. We are awaiting the delivery of some new seating too.
To enhance this area further we would like the children to complete their project this half term specifically to enhance this area further, with work from them based around their favourite books. This could include a favourite character, setting, plot or indeed the whole story.
There are some ideas below but please feel free to let their imagination run wild and be as creative as you like.
Book box – this is a story displayed within an open shoe box
Models – any kind
Mini books where they have retold their favourite story
Any original stories that they have written and illustrated
