Linda Robinson – Chair of Governors
I have been Chair of Governors here at Cherry Tree since September 2015. In addition to this I have been a member of a primary school governing body for the last six years which includes Chair of Governor at two schools. I became a National Leader of Governance (NLG) in February 2016 which involves mentoring and supporting governing boards throughout Essex.
I bring to governance my many business skills and experience that effective leadership requires. I also work within further education to help students seek employment and also those returning after a career break. I hope that this shows you all that I am committed to supporting the staff and pupils at Cherry Tree Primary School.
Sue Rogers- Vice Chair, Academy Governor & Chair of the Pupil Related Committee
I have been on the Powers Hall Academy Governing Body for 2 years and was delighted to be asked to join the Cherry Tree School Governing Body in July 2015.
I bring to the Role of Governor 25 Years of Primary School Teaching experience in and around the Witham area. More recently I left teaching to join the family Electronics business and now fulfill the role of International Sales Director. This has given me the opportunity to work in Business and bring those skills to my role as well.
Despite my career change I remain passionate about Education and remain dedicated to my life long belief that every child matters and there should be no limits to achieving their individual potential. I am fully committed to supporting Staff, Pupils and Parents at Cherry Tree School and look forward to seeing Cherry Tree School moving from strength to strength.
Mark Glenister – Chair of Finance
I joined the governing body at Cherry Tree School in November 2012. I acted as vice-chair and chair of finance, premises, personnel and resources in 2013/14 and joined the interim executive board set up by the Local Authority to govern the school in 2014/15. Despite moving away from the school’s catchment last year, I remain committed to supporting Cherry Tree to provide the best possible education for pupils and I look forward to seeing the school develop with the support of our academy sponsor, Powers Hall Academy.
My work background is in monitoring of school transport contracts and contract management of transport providers, and I am able to bring that knowledge and experience to my role as a governor. I am keen to take up the opportunities for continued professional development which are afforded by the suite of training courses available to governors to equip them to undertake their role, which is perhaps why I also undertake the role of ‘training link governor’.
I value education as a means by which children can realise their potential and enrich their lives, and I believe every child should have the opportunity to experience the highest standard of education.
Nicola Elliott – Staff Governor
I joined Cherry Tree Primary School in November 2014 having worked in schools and schools finance for the previous 8 years. I have teenage children and am a parent governor at The Stanway & TLA Federation. I am excited by the improvements that are happening at Cherry Tree and am looking forward to seeing this continue.
Julie Billimore – Parent Governor
My son has been at cherry tree school for 3 years, and I have been a governor since October 2015. I have lived in this area for 18 years and am very supportive of the school. I run my own business and as a parent governor I want to be able to help the school and the children. I want all the children to enjoy learning , feel happy and be safe.
