Hello and welcome to London Bridge Class.
In English this half term we will be looking at Discursive (Discussion) Texts and writing a 500 word story. Our class book is There's a boy in the girls' bathroom by Louis Sachar.
In Maths we will be covering multiplication, division and fractions.
We will also be continuing our focus on times tables.
In Creative Links our topic will be Art.
Our Science topic is Animals including humans.
In Year 5 we have begun to learn how to spell the Common Exception Words for Year 5 and 6. It is expected that we will be able to use half of these words appropriately and to spell them accurately in independent writing by the end of year 5. We have also begun to learn words containing the 'ough' letter string as well as those containing silent letters.
14th November 2018.
Homework Project – Our Scientific Minds-To be handed in Tuesday 8th January 2019.
Thank you to everyone who completed the Autumn 1 homework projects these will be used to enhance our already fantastic Library.
This half term we want you to think Scientifically. We would like the children to investigate a famous Scientist linked to any area of the subject- this could be Issac Newton, Alexander Bell, Thomas Edison, Edward Jenner, Stephen Hawkings.
The children can produce anything they like about their Scientist but below are some ideas.
* Create a poster/booklet/leaflet all about their Scientist (What they invented, Why are they famous)
* Make a model of the thing they are famous for inventing (E.g Alexander Bell- telephone)
* Information text about how this technology works
We would like the children to be as creative as possible in how they would like to present their research.
Below are some places which you will be able to find information about Scientists.
* BBC Bitesize
* BBC Primary
* Discovery Education (Please see link on the school website)
