Here at Cherry Tree we follow a “Whole School Approach”. The aim is for all pupils to eat healthy & varied school dinners & packed lunches. Our school dinner menus and guidelines for packed lunches were carefully designed by school meal advisors, a representative from The Childrens Food Trust and our own parents and staff. On the school dinner menu we co-ordinate and plan the days so that Packed Lunch & School Dinners can all follow a similar set of guidelines regarding their desserts or puddings as follows:
On days when a frozen dessert is offered, our packed lunch children may have one free of charge.
Sweets, Crisps & Chocolate are not permitted in packed lunches, for snack, NOR are used in school dinners; likewise we do not allow Sports, Fizzy or high–sugar drinks.
We have a strict NO NUT policy. Please pre-slice all grapes.
We are often asked about ideas for what to put in a packed lunch. Government guidelines suggest that children’s packed lunches should include the following:
Here are some other suggestions:
PLEASE NOTE: Nutrition Lessons, Theme Days, Fundraisers & PTA events are exempt from the government guidelines and school policy. Specific details will be issued for each individual event/theme day.
