Welcome to the Year 6 section of the school website. Please see below for the key information regarding what we are doing and learning in class and any key resources that may be useful to assist in learning away from school.
In English sessions this half term we be consolidating our learning over the last year by applying our knowledge and understanding to a range of fiction and non fiction topics. We will write myths, flashback stories and stories set in imaginary worlds. In non-fiction we will be writing biographical and autobiographical texts as well as non chronological reports.
In July there is also Get Colchester Reading with the focus of Peter Pan.
During our maths sessions this half term problem solving and investigation tasks will be our focus. We will be carrying out a range of different practical activities to help embed our knowledge and understanding.
Please remember to practice times tables to aid fluency!!!
Creative links has the focus of building up to our end of year performance, details coming soon. We will be using the skills that we have developed through creative links to build sets, costumes and perform effectively.
Science work this term will be focussed upon practical investigations where we are able to get practical and apply our scientific understanding. There will also be outdoor learning taking place with the focus on developing the school's various environmental areas.
