Cherry Tree Primary School is a totally inclusive 210 place primary school Academy. Pupils will be admitted in the September of the school year in which they become 5 years of age. The number intended to admit for each year group is 30.
We welcome children in school in September, provided they have their fifth birthday during that school year. Any prospective parents are welcome to visit the school to meet the Headteacher and staff and see the school in action. Please telephone for an appointment. Application to school is via Essex County Council. There are set criteria that are used to assess the applications:-
1. Looked After Children and previously Looked After Children
2. Children with a sibling attending the school
3. Children living in the priority admission area
4. Remaining applications.
In the event of oversubscription within any of the above criteria, priority will be determined by straight line distance from home to school, those living the closest being given the highest priority. There is no guarantee of a place for children living in the priority admission area. When the places have been allocated the parents will be invited to an informal meeting in the school. Appropriate information will be circulated at this meeting regarding your child’s start to school. Parents and children will have an opportunity to visit the school prior to officially starting and meet their peers and the adults who will help them. The Foundation Stage staff will try to visit you and your child in your home setting. It is important that parents return all relevant paperwork to school by the deadline date that is set.
