Welcome back to school!
You have all worked incredibly hard while returning to school and should be very proud of yourselves. We have been reestablishing our school routines again, below are a few things to remember:
PE is on Tuesdays. However, you can bring your PE kit in on Monday and leave it in the cloakroom for the week. You must take it home at the end of the week.
Please bring in your school water bottle, reading record and reading book, everyday.
You should be reading at home as well as practicing times tables at homes. Our times tables tests will be every Friday.

The City of Secret Rivers by Jacob Sager Weinstein
In Reading and Writing, we will be reading through the class text and trying to understand the choices Hyacinth makes within the story. With our writing, we are following a talk for writing approach then adapting the story and style to retell as different characters within the text. We are focusing on how to edit our writing to ensure varied sentences and techniques are being used.
In Maths we will be covering reading different scales of measure, converting between metric units of measure and looking at some imperial measurements. We will be building our confidence in our understanding of multiplication and division while looking at related number facts. We will also be completing a weekly x table test!
In our Connected Curriculum lessons we will be learning about Rivers. This term we will be building and developing our geographical language and skills including map reading, key vocabulary and fieldwork.
In Year 5 we have begun to learn how to spell the Common Exception Words for Year 5 and 6 and vocabulary relating to our handwriting and text. It is expected that we will be able to use half of these words appropriately and to spell them accurately in independent writing by the end of year 5.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
